details…tile accent walls

dwell-labs-soho-tile-detail

I know that glass tile has been done over and over again, and I believe it is because it works – glass tile adds a sense of expansiveness with its translucent luminosity and, when paired with carefully selected companion materials, gives a true feeling of design cohesion. The tile used here for the Dwell Labs Showcase at 1600 Vine in Hollywood is Soho Cloud from Arizona Tile. The horizontal orientation and use of white interspersed marble accents makes this tile fresh and a little out of the ordinary. It also was a brilliant solution for a bathroom that already had white tile installed. The marble plays off the existing materials, and yet lends its own look.

The countertop was generously donated by Caesarstone for the project. For this installation, I wanted a soft contrast to the white bathroom ceramics and faucet, so I chose the material in Haze which also ties in nicely with the cloud tile color way.

The bathroom fixtures (toilet and sink) were generously donated by Toto, and the gorgeous Purist faucet which is white and chrome, was provided by Hansgrohe. I was overwhelmed by the quality of the materials that went into this bathroom, and am eager to incorporate many of these materials into future projects.
